
This profile is of David Jones who currently races a mini-sprint at I-44 Speedway. David is no stranger to racing at SFS as his father owned cars back in the 70's of the following drivers: Dale Parsons, Dale Reed, D.E. Suggs, Jay Woodside and Bobby Walker. David started racing in 1988 before quitting and becoming crew chief for Larry Neighbors in 1991. David came back to race after quiting Larry in 1995 before he quit racing his champ sprint at SFS in 2005. He now races a mini-sprint for Donnie Burk. Here is Davids profile. Enjoy!
1) How long have you been racing? started in 1988 but took 6years off to travel with a race team
2) In which class did you begin? 100" 6cyl. modifieds
3) What is your favorite track? Devil's Bowl
4) What is your least favorite track? Lawton
5) What is your favorite track condition? dry slick
6) What is the hardest part of driving at your track? Getting used to mini sprints
7) How did you choose your car number? car owner(I used to always run 64 because Bobby Walker was my childhood hero when he drove my dads 33 car, but Owens always has 33)
8) What is your favorite racing memory? Winning the NCRA championship as a crewman and finishing 5th in the B-main at Knoxville Nationals after starting 18th
9) What advice would you give to someone just starting out in racing? Start with the best equipment you can, It is easier to learn with good stuff rather than junk
10) How much patience do you have when you come up on a driver that is
obviously just learning the sport? Depends on who it is
11) If you could change one rule in your class what would it be? Raise the weight limit so us fat people have a chance
12) Driver or equipment, which is more important in winning? Why? Both. You can have a fast car, but you still have to drive it.
13) Flagman throws a slow yellow. How much does that concern you as a
driver? It's ok as long as you don't drive right off the nose of your car
14) If you weren?t driving in your class, which other class would you like

15) Explain to the fan what it?s like in the pits. Bunch of people with too much money and not enough sense
16) Have you ever had white flag fever? No, it usually happens alot sooner
17) What sets apart the best drivers? Agressive but clean
18) What traits should a fan look for in identifying a skilled driver? Someone that goes to the front every week
19) What other driver(s) at your track do you most admire and why?
